Our Chief Instructor:

Fang Tianfeng 8p

Fang Tianfeng 8 dan professional, who will be our Chief Instructor and teaching in our program in the summer 2010, was Chinese professional Go champion and one of the strongest Chinese professional players. From the mid-1990s, Fang 8p started his Go teaching in many Chinese professional Go teams, fostered several professional players and high dan amateur players. One of the organizers in our program, Peter Liu 2p, was taught by Fang 8p from year 1997-1999, and mainly because of his teaching, in year 2000 Peter successfully passed the professional test and became a professional player.

From year 2000, Fang 8p put his main efforts on promoting Go in universities in China. Today, Fang 8p is the lecturer in Go courses and lectures in two of the best universities- Peking University and Tsinghua University. The course is named “Go skills and cultures”, which attracted thousands of students every year, and got good evaluation.

Fang 8p has taught in our program from year 2008, giving lectures and playing simultaneous games with participants. His profound and penetrating comments in lectures and game reviews impressed all the participants. Fang had played simultaneous games with our two participants, Paul Barchilon, 2 kyu from the U.S., and Jonas Jermann, 2 kyu from Swizerland. After the games, Fang also had given in detailed review and comments to them both, which left deep impression to both Paul and Jonas. In the summer 2010, our program will invite Fang 8p to be our Chief Instructor, and teaching more regularly in the 2 months period.
